CMA’s Initiatives

Paalavi – Youth Development Program

Paalavi is the next generation of Marathi youth in Calgary. It’s an opportunity to meet other youth with diverse interests, while creating long lasting friendships and promoting community involvement.

Adding new dimension to youth. Over the past few years, the Marathi community has grown quite a bit, and there are many new faces!

We’re trying to create a more close-knit group where we all can hang out and have fun. For more information on various activities or your participation please contact youth@cmacalgary.ca.

Marathi Shala (Marathi School)

Marathi Shala was started in Calgary on a small scale by Mrs. Shubhangi Purohit in the year 2003 at her residence. She felt that kids should learn to read and write Marathi language which brings them more close to the Marathi Culture and Heritage.

She has volunteered 1000s of her hours, space and effort so that the school is kept free of any charge. Expected in return is students and parents with genuine interest, strong commitments and passion for Marathi Language learning. Over the years 100s of students successfully completed the Primary (0-5) Level from her school.
